Walnut Creek Water Treatment Plant Improvements
EBMUD is improving how we treat and deliver water at the Walnut Creek Water Treatment Plant. EBMUD will be adding two new filters and a new pumping plant, and will be upgrading the plant's waste stream reclaim system.
These improvements are designed to increase the capacity and reliability of water service so the District can meet projected water demands through the year 2030.
Workplan and Schedule
Construction is scheduled to begin in September 2010 and to be completed in April 2012. EBMUD will:
- construct an above-ground reinforced concrete pumping plant
- construct two dual-media filters
- install various improvements to the plant's waste stream system
- relocate staff parking area and install landscaping to screen the pumping plant

This project is an element of the Water Treatment and Transmission Improvements Program (WTTIP). The EIR for the WTTIP was certified by the EBMUD Board of Directors in December 2006.
