Recoat Mokelumne Aqueducts Phase 8 - Slough Crossings Project
EBMUD operates the Mokelumne Aqueducts, three large diameter steel pipelines that transport water approximately 90 miles from the Sierra Foothills to treatment facilities in the EBMUD service area. EBMUD is planning to recoat sections of the Aqueducts at Indian Slough in Contra Costa County and Trapper Slough, Holt Bend, and Black Slough in San Joaquin County to prevent corrosion. EBMUD will remove the existing coating and apply a new coating. This work is part of a periodic maintenance program to safeguard the structural integrity of these vital water transmission pipelines.
Workplan and Schedule
The design has been completed and permits have been obtained. The recoating of Aqueduct #1 at Holt is near completion and the Contractor will subsequently advance to Aqueducts #2 and #3 at Holt Bend (San Joaquin County).

Published Studies and Other Resources
EBMUD has assessed the potentially significant environmental impacts resulting from the construction of this project, and determined that a Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND) is the appropriate level of California Environmental Quality Act review. EBMUD developed an action plan to reduce potential impacts to a less than significant level. The mitigations are summarized in the Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Plan within the MND. The MND was available for public review from May 7, 2010 through June 7, 2010. At its July 13, 2010 Board meeting, the EBMUD Board of Directors approved the Mitigated Negative Declaration.
